Programs

Seminars & Workshops
We regularly offer a range of practical, thought-provoking seminars and workshops on a range of topics. These provide biblical perspectives on key issues facing Christians and churches today. Our programs can be customised for specific churches or groups in various locations. We also schedule public programs open to interested parties. Some of the public programs are fee-paying and others are offered free. See below for forthcoming and past programs.

All seminars and workshops feature experienced presenters and facilitators drawn from our faculty (see Klesis Team and Advisory Board) as well as other guest speakers. If you are interested to learn how we can help you with customised or public programs, please email us and we will be happy to discuss with you the topics, presenters, costs and logistics involved in such programs.

Past Activities

Church Growth Forum, Sydney 9-10 Nov 2007
In response to the 2007 church survey data (see below), Klesis Institute together with Macquarie School of Biblical Studies conducted a two day Church Growth Forum in Sydney on 9 and 10 November 2007. Forty six people from 17 congregations throughout Australia and New Zealand met to pray for, learn about and share experiences on church growth. The forum, focused on three main questions - How have we grown over the past few years? What growth experiences and initiatives can we learn from each other? What of the future? Presenters included Ted Paull (MSOBS, NSW), Trevor Baker, Benny Tabalujan and Alan Rowley (Belmore Road, VIC), Greg Wells (Lindisfarne, TAS), Peter Gray (Westchurch, NSW), David Payne and Stuart Penhall (Gosford, NSW), Peter Coleman (Mount Lawley, WA), Warren Holyoak (The Point, QLD) and Brad Johnson (Holland Park, QLD). The two days provided wonderful opportunities to meet, fellowship, pray and share experiences with brothers and sisters from throughout Australasia. Results of 2007 church survey now available
After over 20 years of Stephen Randall conducting surveys on the membership and attendance of non-denominational Churches of Christ he agreed to Klesis taking on this role. During the first part of 2007 we've received wonderful help from individuals and congregations throughout the country, providing us with their October 2006 data. The information from these surveys is useful not only as a broad historical record, but also for new church plantings. The latest survey data has now been analysed and an August 2007 summary report is available below.

13-15 April 2007, Melbourne: "The Cross: Following Jesus in the 21st Century"
How does the Cross impact us today? What lessons can Christians in the 21st century learn from the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ? How do these lessons manifest in our daily living? Church elder and minister, Dale Hartman from Oklahoma, discussed these questions in an April 2007 seminar held at the Belmore Road Church of Christ in Melbourne. Dale is a graduate of Oklahoma Christian College and obtained his MTh and MAR from Harding Graduate School of Religion. A former missionary for 12 years in Sydney, Dale also has an MA in ancient history from Macquarie University.

9-10 June 2006, Melbourne: "Church Worship Then & Now: What Has Changed?"
Have you wondered about how church worship has changed from the 1st century to our own 21st century? What lessons can we glean from the Scriptures and church history? Biblical perspectives on these questions were presented and discussed at a seminar series with Allan McNicol from Austin Graduate School of Theology. Allan is an Australian residing in the USA. Born in Queensland, he studied at Abilene Christian University (BA, MA), Yale University (BD) and Vanderbilt University (MA, PhD). He's been a church elder and is currently A. B. Cox Professor of New Testament and Biblical Theology at Austin Graduate School of Theology in Texas.
